Nestled at the edge of the historic district on 40 acres of wooded bayous and terraced lawns, Dunleith Historic Inn is Natchez’s only full service inn offering a fabulous restaurant, The Castle Restaurant and Pub, a swimming pool, turn-down service and special guest room amenities. Our main house guest rooms are impeccably decorated with exquisite antique beds and period furnishings, while the courtyard wing rooms epitomize rustic luxury and the dairy barn rooms offer privacy and charm. Our rooms feature modern whirlpool tubs, gas burning fireplaces and luxurious bathrobes.

Imagine dining in the Main House parlors with period drapes, marble fireplace mantles and stunning chandeliers. The Castle Restaurant is our original carriage house built in the 1790’s. Dunleith provides the perfect venues for rehearsal dinners as well as bridesmaid luncheons. Events can be coordinated to allow your guests to remain on property at all times. The talented staff at The Castle Restaurant has combined experience of over 60 years in creating Southern specialties. Together, they strategically coordinate all the food & beverage arrangements for the restaurant and all catered functions. A Wine Spectator, “Award of Excellence” winner since our opening 2000, The Castle Restaurant has a wine selection compared to no other establishment in our area. Located in an original 1790’s carriage house and stables, The Castle is the perfect setting for a wonderful dining experience.
The main building has a Greek revival design and includes 26 Tuscan columns built of brick and stucco. There are porches around the entire building on the first and second floor. The first floor includes windows similar to those in Monticello which roll up to become doorways. The house was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1974. The main house has been a historic house museum with tours for the public as well as a historic inn since 1976.
In addition to the main property, Bowie’s Tavern, overlooking the bluffs of the mighty Mississippi River, is another historic property to enjoy while visiting. Bowie’s Tavern, located at 100 Main Street in an original cotton warehouse, has six beautiful and spacious rooms with oversized Jacuzzi tubs and separate showers. Downstairs, there is plenty of action featuring tavern –style cuisine and the largest selection of import and domestic beers in town.

Having hosted over 700 weddings, receptions and special events, our experienced banquet staff is available to assist you with one of the most memorable events that you will ever plan. The entire Dunleith staff takes tremendous pride in setting an example of being the most professional and friendly staff that you will ever encounter. It is our goal to greet and leave you with gentile Southern hospitality.
How did you get started? The property was purchased by our current owner in 1999 and converted more of the space into guest rooms. We then moved on to weddings and have done approximately 700 weddings on this property.

What do you like most about what you do? Hearing people’s vision for what they want their wedding to be and then seeing it come to life on our property.
Tell us about you and your company.
We are an Historic Inn with 22 guest rooms. We also have The Castle Restaurant and Pub on property along with a Banquet Kitchen. We host meetings, conferences, dinners, receptions and weddings.
The Main House and Courtyard:
• Ceremony on the front steps of the house under the live oak
• Reception is indoor and outdoor in the Main House and Courtyard
• A tent is required for numbers over 150 for inclement weather conditions

For weddings, the venue rental package for a wedding and/or reception includes:
- Exclusive use of the downstairs Main House and Courtyard during the event
- In-house bridal consultants
- Linens, tables, chairs and set up
- Audio equipment for wedding ceremony
- Wedding coordinators for the rehearsal and ceremony
- Wedding officiant
- Parking attendants
- House rental fee is a required non-refundable deposit due within 7 days of reserving your date

If you could give a bride one tip/one bit of advice, what would that be?
To accept ahead of time that some little things might go wrong and if it does, it probably isn’t going to ruin your wedding. Some things truly are out of your control, try to relax and enjoy your big day.

Any funny stories to share (no names please)?
We don’t really have any funny stories, but we do have great memories. We often wonder how the couples are doing and many come back to stay on their anniversary.
