Despite all the chaos that 2020 and COVID has caused and the many plans that have had to be postponed or cancelled, love is still going strong. Yes, there are kinks and bumps in the road, however, people are still falling in love. They are still celebrating love. And here at IDY, we are so happy to still be sharing the love. Today’s wedding reminds us of just that! Love happens despite any circumstances. This sunrise beach elopement is absolutely magical, and we can’t wish the newlyweds a bigger congratulations! See more of their intimate day and some behind-the-scenes details from the bride below!
Meant-to-Be
When hearing their love story, it’s one of those that gives you chill bumps and screams meant-to-be. Cailin had been caring for Colten’s nephew as a nurse at the local hospital. She had unknowingly bonded with his family, especially his mother who kept insisting on setting her up with her son. Despite being in the same hospital multiple times, they never crossed paths. Until a couple of months later, they matched on a dating app. (Even though she was about to give up and delete the entire app!) Long story short, they soon realized who the other was. They went on their first date a couple of weeks later, and the rest is history!
Heartfelt First Looks
Who says you can’t have a first look with an elopement?! It’s your wedding day! You can do whatever you want. And that’s exactly what Cailin and Colten did, which ended up being their absolute favorite part of the day. She said, “When I walked down the beach and hugged my husband before he turned around and saw me, time slowed down and it was just us. He turned around, and the pure emotion on his face is something I will remember for the rest of my life. It set the tone for the rest of the elopement.” Did your hearts just skip a beat too?
Follow Your Heart
When talking about advice for other couples out there planning or trying to plan a wedding in the mix of the unknown, this bride had such a thoughtful response. She said, “Like a lot of other couples, the way we got married wasn’t our original idea, but it ended up being the most perfect celebration of our love I could have imagined. And I’m so happy we got married where and how we did. My only advice would be to follow your heart in this process, do what feels right for the two of you, and to also be open to alternate ideas and options. It worked really well for us!” Yes, it did. After their emotional sunrise beach elopement, they had a small reception with friends and family filled with photos, donuts, and lots of smiles! And we know a happily ever after too.
