How Can I Have the Wedding of My Dreams & Save Money, Too – Part 2

The other day we look at the first ten ways you can have the wedding of your dreams and save money, too. Here are the rest!

11. Prioritize. What’s most important to you? Start with what you must have and go from there. Most brides have one to three “must have’s” for their wedding. Then everything else is flexible.

12. Keep Track of Your Expenses. This way you know where your money is being spent and can adjust accordingly.

13. Use Points or Sky Miles: You’ve earned them. Possibly you can redeem them for your honeymoon or things for your wedding.

14. Music: Band or DJ? Many times a DJ is more affordable and can also act as the Emcee and keep the reception going in a timely manner. You may opt for an acoustic guitar or a jazz ensemble. What’s important to you and your groom?

15. Venue or Other: Most venues have tables, chairs, and standard linens. Many times when you go to a non-traditional place for your ceremony and/or reception, you now have to figure in tables, chairs and linens. Are you really saving now?

16. Linens: There are so many beautiful choices. Talk to your rental company about all the options available to you. You may want to focus on table toppers only. If your budget is really limited, skip the chair covers.

17. Transportation: Everyone wants to feel special and what better way than a limousine. You don’t have to transport the entire wedding party. And you don’t have to transport all the guests. If budget is really a concern, maybe a friend has an antique car or truck you can leave in. Or, you may get away in your car.

18. Rentals: There is so much available for you. Prioritize what is most important for your ceremony and your reception and everything else will fall into place. Most rental companies offer delivery and pick-up for an additional fee, but it is well worth the cost. Don’t ask your family to be responsible.

19. Wedding Planner: Wedding planners can actually save you lots of money because they know all the “in’s” and “out’s” and the best people to use for your wedding.

20. Get Contracts: The best surprise is no surprise, so make sure you have contracts on all your vendors that covers pricing and what you receive and can expect from that vendor.

What do you suggest for helping the budget conscious bride? I would love to hear your feedback!
