When couples are looking for a fun way to express their style on their wedding day, we can’t think of a better way than signature drinks. Signature drinks are always a crowd pleaser and add a personalized touch to your reception.
Narrowing down your selection to one favorite cocktail might seem overwhelming to some couples. We reached out to Andy Nesenson, General Manager of the Iron Horse Grill in Jackson, Mississippi, for some suggestions on how couples can woo their guests with spirits. With over a decade in the industry, Andy is well versed in craft cocktails and the rising trend of featuring your very own signature sips.
Try a version of The Blushing Bride, like this delicious champagne cocktail.
1 ½ oz flavored vodka (whipped cream or wedding cake works perfectly!)
1 oz Pomegranate liqueur
4 oz champagne
Another creative way to feature your signature drink is to dress up a classic with a new name, like an old fashioned as your “Something Old” or a “Something Blue” martini with blue curacao.
For the guys, craft beer is on its way out and craft cocktails are in. An Iron Horse classic for the guys is a Peach Bourbon Smash. This year-round hit in the South muddles fresh peaches, mint, bourbon, and simple syrup, garnished with fresh peach.
Just like you would for a caterer, setting up a consultation with your bartender is a great idea for trying new cocktails. Andy suggests a sampling day to couples looking to design their signature drinks with Iron Horse for their wedding day bar service. “We invite couples in for a sampling day to try different cocktails and help them narrow down their signature style.” Who doesn’t love sampling drinks?
Whatever your style, signature drinks are a fun way to express yourself and give your guests a more personal experience. Avoid a line at the bar by creating a signature drink station. Accent your drink with other details like personalized cocktail napkins, coasters, or straws. Don’t forget to tell your photographer, so every detail is captured.
There are so many options when creating and naming your signature drink, just remember to be creative and have fun!
