Makeup artist Mallory Fitzgerald Krohn shares wedding day beauty advice

One of the gulf south’s premier makeup artist, Mallory Fitzgerald Krohn,

gives us all her wedding beauty secrets!

Mallory Fitzgerald Khron specializes in weddings, primarily in the gulf south, but she has also amassed an impressive resume of work in the entertainment industry accumulating a portfolio of clients that includes HGTV, the Food Network, and feature films. Mallory’s work outside the wedding industry is like an athlete cross training; the tricks and tips she learns in film and television inform and expand her work as a bridal makeup expert.

As an artist in the deep south, she certainly understands the makeup needs of the southeastern bride. “Humidity is the enemy of makeup,” Mallory says with a small laugh. Out of necessity, she has developed fail-proof techniques for combating humidity and whatever else is thrown a bride’s way. Part of her success in working with brides is her calm nature and soothing demeanor. She uses her time with the bride to pamper and calm nerves. Her approach to glamour comes from an authentic place of appreciating women’s natural beauty and strength, and she loves helping brides to look and feel beautiful on their big day.

Mallory is down to earth, ambitious, and passionate. She left her stable career with MAC Cosmetics to pursue full-time work as a freelance makeup artist, and her leap of faith was definitely rewarded. She now operates a successful business that allows her to travel any and everywhere, handling weddings of all sizes. Mallory’s passion for her career is infectious. She reflects, “I really love what I do. It’s everything to me.”

Mallory graciously shared her advice on the importance of establishing a bridal beauty timeline with us. Here’s what you need to know!

When to Book Your Makeup Artist:

Book your makeup artist as soon as you know your wedding date. You want to make sure you get the makeup artist of your choice, not your cousin who got her Esthetician License online. If you have concerns about your skin, your makeup artist can help you with proper skin care. You do not want to start a new skin care routine two weeks before your big day. Proper skincare takes time to develop, and nothing is a beautiful as a bride with glowing, clear skin.

Do a Trial Run:

An advantage of working with your makeup artist from the start is you can do a trial run. Having your makeup artist style you for your engagement pictures or bridal shower allows you to test the pairing of your hair and makeup to see how it lasts during a long event.

Wedding Day Touch Ups:

Your wedding day makeup must survive a hundred hugs, kisses, and lots of sweating it out of the dance floor. It’s important that you keep a touch-up kit handy. A bonus of working with Mallory is she offers a small touch-up kit as an add on, featuring the exact products and shades you’re already wearing.
