Magnificent Maid of Honor Speeches

Being chosen as the Maid of Honor or Matron of Honor is truly a privilege that comes with special memories and responsibilities. Now is the time to brush up on your public speaking skills and prepare for a memorable and heartfelt toast for your best friend. Take our tips to help craft a speech that is sentimental, thoughtful with a dash of humor that the bride will love!

{Practice & Prepare}

The bride may be your best friend (or even your sister), but spending time writing down your thoughts for your toast will be both beneficial and helpful. Take the time to type out and print your speech, so that you can practice before the big day. If you are able to remember your speech, speaking from memory is always the most engaging. If you feel better having your thoughts jotted down, put them on cute stationery instead of a big piece of notebook paper.

{Be Confident}

When it’s time to make your toast, be confident because you are speaking about your best friend! Tell yourself that you will do great and put on a smile! If possible, stand from where you are seated and make eye contact with the bride and groom. Also, look out into the room at others and speak clearly.

{Make It Personal}

Make your toast personal and meaningful with special stories and humor! Reminisce with the guests about favorite memories that have been a highlight of your friendship with the bride. Let the guests know how you met the bride and the groom and how long you’ve know one another. If there are fun traditions that you share like getting a pumpkin spice latte in the fall together – share a fun memory so that the guests can make an emotional connection to friendship.

Be sincere and express your hope and wishes for the bride and groom. Thank them both for the special memories that you’ve shared and let them know that you are excited for their future together.

{Alcohol Free}

Your best friend might be hosting an awesome rehearsal dinner with festive drinks, but now is the time to be clear minded. Avoid drinking alcoholic beverages before your speech – remember this is about the bride and groom. All you need is a glass of water to be able to deliver a meaningful message!

{Keep It Classy}

Maybe the bride dated your brother in high school, but now is not the time to reminisce on seemingly embarrassing, old school stories or inside jokes. The bride will appreciate tasteful and classy memories that you can share with the wedding guests!

{Express your Support}

Finally, let your best pal and her husband know that you will be there to support them through all that life has in store. Even if you do not drink wine or champagne, have a glass ready to raise at the end of your speech to toast to a lifetime of happiness for the bride and groom! Cheers!
