Business partners and cousins, Leslie Carpenter and Karey Evans, are the inspiration behind “The Karovan Bar.”
The Karovan Bar is a unique mobile bar for hire with vintage sophistication that creates a memorable and festive atmosphere for announcement parties, bridal luncheons, rehearsal dinners and wedding receptions. Premier Bride of Mississippi and Premier Wedding of Mobile Bay writer, Jenny Cox Holman, interviewed Karey Evans, owner and founder with her cousin and business partner, Leslie Carpenter of The Karovan Bar for creative ideas on how to incorporate The Karovan Bar into wedding festivities.
Karey, can you tell our readers about The Karovan Bar? How did you get started?
The Karovan Bar is a unique mobile bar for hire with lots of versatility! It is a custom made beauty with solid oak trim and countertops- classy with a vintage sophistication. When my son got engaged last August, we decided to have the rehearsal dinner in the back at the Cedars. I knew I wanted a food truck and the Popsicle truck there too. I wanted it to be casual and fun! I started looking at Pinterest for ideas. I found a mobile bar in Australia and feel in love with the idea. It just said fun and I could not stop thinking about it. I wanted one for my son’s wedding events, so I had it custom made . After talking about it to my cousin , Leslie Carpenter, we became business partners. So the Karovan was born!!

What special services do you offer for a bride-to-be and her fiancé? How can you help with bridesmaids’ luncheons, announcement parties or wedding receptions?
We offer different types of packages for the bride-to-be and her fiancé. The “Cheers” package works well for any event where the host wants to serve cocktails or any other beverage or food yourself. We will be there to set it up and pick it up. The” More Cheers” package works well with any event where the host wants the Karovan to manage the complete serving operation! The “Your Cheers” package is when an event is unique so we will help create the perfect package for your event. The Karovan Bar can be anywhere they would like it to be!
What are the current trends in engagement parties and wedding receptions with innovative mobile bars?
The Karovan Bar is the first mobile bar in this part of the country. It is unique and sophisticated so it can adapt to any venue whether it is formal or a more casual type of wedding, rehearsal dinner or engagement party. I think the trend is to add small details and bring in the couples personality to the event. I think people are wanting to do more creative things than a traditional wedding venue.

What do you like most about what you do?
Leslie and I have enjoyed meeting new people. It has also been fun to watch people love the Karovan at a party.

What types of events does the Karovan attend and what does the Karovan provide?
The Karovan loves a good party, but certainly can be used for most any kind of event imaginable!

What advice would you like to offer clients to help create a fun and festive event using The Karovan Bar?
My advice would be to do what really inspires you and make it your own. Be creative and don’t compare your wedding to other weddings! Everyone is unique and that is what makes every wedding fun and enjoyable! With the Karovan Bar we can help add to the uniqueness. We have banners, lights, barware , flowers and can make the Karovan fit your personality and help set the tone for a great evening!

How far in advance do you need for a bride to schedule your services? What is the best way to reach you?
We are starting to get busy, so the sooner you know your date the better. We have a website, www.thekarovanbar.com, so you can email us or feel free to call us and we would love to help make your event special and one to remember.
What do you see on the horizon for up and coming trends in weddings for this fall/winter 2016 and spring/summer 2017?
I think the trend is Be Who You Are!! Do what you like and make it a great special memory .
