There is nothing more endearing than young love. It brings love, hope and romance. And when you see these two with their families, you see the love, the hope, the romance and so much more. Mary Kate McEacharn’s wedding to John Luke Robertson is featured in the latest issue of Premier Bride of Mississippi and Mary Kate was chosen as the cover bride.
You may recognize her as the lovely young lady who married into the Duck Dynasty family earlier this year when she and John Luke, son of Willie and Korie Robertson, exchanged vows.
Becoming part of the extended Robertson clan was quite an event as the couple’s nuptials were televised for the world to see. While Mary Kate was not a Mississippi bride, viewers may be surprised to know that the grand event was planned, designed, and executed by a Mississippi vendor, Oak: A Southern Experience of Forest, Mississippi. Owner Erin Vowell and Event Planner Bethany Sigrest worked their magic to pull of the perfect day.
In fact, there were a number of Mississippi wedding professionals who had a hand in this special event. Sigrest planned and styled floral pieces throughout the wedding. Cups-N-Cakes created the six tier wedding cake with 18 accent cakes, some with gluten free layers for Mary Kate as well as the groom’s special request– the Cronut display. Tents and rentals were provided by Alpha Tents, and the cute fan programs which were perfect for the humid afternoon were designed, along with the couple’s invitations by Erica Ashley Designs. They rounded out her team by bringing along Brooke Wilcher of Blessed 2 Focus Photography of Carthage to help capture some of the special details as she knew the official photographer of Three Nails Photography would be busy all day capturing the event. Even the exquisitely detailed cookie favors were created here at home by Claudia Eichelberger of Claudia’s Creative Cookies of Forest, MS. Other pre-ceremony treats for the men included cigars provided by The Country Squire of Jackson.
The bride’s selection of Oak: A Southern Experience as her wedding designer was a natural choice as Mary Kate and Erin have a long-standing connection. The families have been life-long friends, and Erin was once Mary Kate’s babysitter. Mary Kate was even a flower girl in Erin’s wedding years ago. “I love Mary Kate,” said Erin. “I would do anything for her. Planning and designing her wedding was a labor of love for me.” Besides being such a lovely and sweet bride, Mary Kate and her mother Shari were a joy to work with Erin said. The bride chose a sweet, vintage theme for her special day, and although there were more than 800 guests invited, a number which presented Erin and her team with a wealth of logistical challenges, the wedding came across as intimate and family oriented.
Many of the special touches at the event could easily be adopted by a bride for her wedding. Erin and her team had to reach out to a rental company in another state to provide the numerous vintage chairs and couches used to seat guests during the ceremony, but the vintage style could be replicated by rental companies in Mississippi for smaller weddings. Even if a bride were to select just a few pieces for family seating, it would add a sweet, old-fashioned touch to traditional outdoor seating options. Mary Kate selected food trucks to supplement the food offerings, and airstream trailers provided a vintage style perfect for the occasion. We loved the cute sno cone station and the popcorn bag favors the couple piled high in the bed of a vintage pickup truck. Smaller bags loaded into vintage wagons would be just as cute and enjoyed by attendees. Guests took home favors of potted succulents as the couple exited the ceremony under a shower of dried flower petals following an exciting fireworks display. Finally, the Flower Crown on the bridal portrait (our Cover) is from the Mad Hatters Flower Shop in Delphi, Louisiana.
There were other touches to the wedding, like Mark Ballas from Dancing with the Stars performing. He was Sadie’s (John Luke’s sister) partner on Dancing with the Stars. Of course, fireworks, music, dancing and love!
We hope you enjoy Mary Kate and John Luke’s wedding as much as we did. The photography is by Three Nails Photography in Shreveport, LA. Finally, we wish our newly married couple much love and happiness as they begin this new chapter in their lives! May they have all the joys and none of the sorrow and love always!
