Featuerd Wedding: Brooke & Tyler Zugg

BLACKLEDGE ZUGG002

This is truly a love story.  Not just a love story of two people but a story of a mother’s love for her daughter.  LeighAnna Brooke Blackledge and Tyler Steven Zugg exchanged vows March 7, 2015 in Natchez, MS.  But, before this Mississippi bride walked down the aisle, her mother presented her with a special handkerchief.  The handkerchief was a letter the mother wrote her newborn daughter twenty years ago.

This was no ordinary handkerchief.  And this was no ordinary letter to a newborn.  Brooke’s mother and father were unable to have children.  They adopted her brother early in their marriage.  Unexpectedly, eleven years later, Brooke’s parents were given the opportunity to adopt a baby girl.  Brooke’s mother wrote a letter in 1994 telling LeighAnna how much she was loved.   For 20 years, Brooke’s mother kept this letter.  When Brooke became engaged, her mother knew exactly what to do.

She contacted Erin Napier at Lucky Luxe Correspondence to copy her hand-written letter onto a handkerchief that Brooke could put around her bouquet.

What made your wedding special?  That lovely sentimental letter on the handkerchief became my something old. My grandmother’s birthstone ring that my mother received from her when she was 16 became my something borrowed. I tied the ring to the handkerchief.

A piece of my daddy’s work shirt was stitched to the train of my dress and served as my something blue. I was surprised by my groom with Tiffany & Co. pearl earrings which are now my something new.

All of my “something’s” came together in a beautiful way. The most special of all is the twenty year old letter written by my mother, which will forever be cherished with all my heart.

What inspires you? When Tyler and I were trying to decide what kind of wedding we wanted, we knew we longed for something classy and timeless. We wanted a timeless day, so that when we are 95 years old and we show our family our wedding photos, that it would seem as though we were just married the year before, so when we came across Dunleith Historic Inn, we immediately knew that would be the perfect place. Tyler even said he felt like Jay Gatsby on the beautiful wrap-around porch of the immaculate home surrounded by a surreal garden of flowers! We knew we had found the perfect spot to celebrate the first day of our marriage together!
