If you plan to enjoy your wedding, the greatest event in your life, by all means hire professional people and let them do what they do. This is true for the event planner, the caterer, the florist, the decorator, and the rental company. Ask the caterer to give you some menus that they are comfortable preparing and pick from that. Show the florist that folder of pictures you have been cutting out of magazines since you were twelve years old so that he will know what you have in mind and let him or her run with it. A picture is worth a thousand words and it is never more useful that showing those doing the job what your dreams are. As a rental company owner I love it when the bride gives me pictures of a tent she likes or how she wants lighting or drape in a tent or room. But listen to the professionals when they give you advice and let them take care of things. If you want you and your family to enjoy your wedding day and wedding week for that matter don’t have them setting up the chairs and tables the day before much less the day of the wedding. Do your best to let the professionals know what you expect from them and go and be the bride.
