Backyard Spring Wedding With Southern Details

When Amanda Benson started planning her wedding, she knew she’d be on a budget. After finding all the local wedding venues booked or unavailable on her chosen date, she said she found a place “that gave me the perfect opportunity to add my creative flair, incorporate all my crazy DIY ideas and plan the backyard spring wedding I was dreaming about.” The result is a true backyard southern wedding, fully equipped with a biscuit bar, lemonade stand, fried chicken and even a banjo player. All photography  by Megan Morales Photography.

This resourceful bride is also a talented calligrapher. Amanda used a modern script to put a her personal touch on invitations, response cards and more.

Lifelong friends, close cousins and college roommates surrounded this sweet bride on her big day.

The bride and bridal party wore designs from New York Bride & Groom of Raleigh.

The gorgeous floral arrangements, bouquets and centerpieces were created by Benson Flower Shop.

The bride and her father made their grand entrance to the outdoor ceremony in this 1931 Model A Tudor Sedan, which belonged to her great-grandfather.

The Lee House, a private residence in Four Oaks, NC, was the perfect venue for this creative bride.

Amanda’s calligraphy is also a part of the wedding and reception signage, which she sells at her shop, A Southern Accent.

Seed packets guests can plant in their own gardens are a lovely seasonal reminder of the Benson’s backyard spring wedding.

It’s the little things – like the simple centerpieces, pale blue floral china pattern and Amanda’s calligraphy – that seamlessly carry the elements of a theme from the ceremony into the reception.

First dance looks are the sweetest.

The wedding cake by Jenny’s Sweet Creations was a big “smash.”

A warm congratulations to Amanda & Derek Benson. Thank you for sharing your southern-inspired creativity with I Do Y’all!
